Welcome to La Dolce Vita
Baking Challenge

10 days of Italian baking, mindfulness, and bringing joy to your home kitchen.

Day 1: Begin
Day 1: Begin

Here’s a taste of what you’ll discover:

  • The story of how a local baker in Naples taught me to slow down and enjoy life.

  • Why la dolce vita is about more than luxury; it’s about community and tradition.

  • How you can start bringing this sweet Italian lifestyle into your home today.

Bonus: La Dolce Vita Challenge Checklist! I’ve included a cheat-sheet with small lifestyle changes that will help you slow down and experience more joy—wherever you are. From taking a mindful walk to baking something from scratch, there’s something for everyone. Download it, try to do at least one thing each day, and let me know how it goes <3

Day 2: Experience
Day 2: Experience

Here’s a small Italian-inspired activity for you: enjoy a cup of coffee (or tea) without any distractions. Bonus points if you make your coffee in an Italian moka! Just savor the flavors, and imagine yourself in a cozy Italian café. If you’re already on the move today, I challenge you to visit a café during your break and strike up a small conversation with a stranger—perhaps the barista or another customer. Make it a game and see if you can bring a smile to their face!

Speaking of coffee, here’s a little culture read you may enjoy: Ordering Coffee in Naples, Italy: A Crash Course in Espresso Etiquette.

I’d love to hear about your cozy coffee experience—email me how it went!

Day 3: Gratitude
Day 3: Gratitude

This practice is deceptively simple but deeply effective. Research shows that gratitude can have a profound impact on our brain chemistry. In fact, studies by psychologists and neuroscientists have found that regularly practicing gratitude can increase dopamine and serotonin levels—two chemicals that make us feel good. When we focus on the positive, we reinforce neural pathways that enhance happiness, resilience, and emotional balance. So, here’s your invitation:

Take a moment today to write down three things you’re grateful for. They can be as big as the people you love or as small as the smell of coffee or the warmth of sunlight. This practice connects you to the joy in your daily life—one of the core elements of la dolce vita.

It’s amazing how just a few minutes spent savoring the small things can transform our perspective on the day. Email me and let me know what you’re grateful for!

Day 4: Learn
Day 4: Learn

In this video, you’ll learn:

• How to make La Pasta Frolla, a classic Italian shortcrust pastry, with just a few ingredients.

• How to use the dough to make la crostata (a delicious jam tart).

• Tips for sourcing ingredients and easy substitutions.

Bonus tip: You can use the rest of your dough to make biscotti- cookies! Get out a cookie cutter, cut out the cookies, and serve sprinkled with powdered sugar. Enjoy!

Let me know how your crostata/ biscotti turned out and who you shared with! Comment below the video, email me, or tag me on social @ambymathur—I can’t wait to see what you create.

Day 5: Community
Day 5

Today’s Challenge: Share a Treat

Whether it’s homemade biscotti or a slice of crostata (from yesterday's challenge), or even a simple snack, share something with someone you care about. Bonus points if it's someone you don't know well but would like to get to know better! This act of giving not only creates joy for others but brings a sense of warmth and connection to our own lives, too. Who will you share your treat with today?

I’d love to know who you chose, what you shared, and how it felt to spread a little joy through food. Send me an email or DM on Instagram @ambymathur.

Day 6
Day 6: New Connections

Today’s Challenge: Learn New Names & Save Them in Your Phone

I invite you to learn the name of at least one person you encounter regularly but haven’t had the chance to properly connect with. It could be the cashier at your favorite café, the friendly neighbor you wave to, or even someone you meet on your walk.

Here’s a fun twist: save these new names in your phone under a special note. You can add details like “Anna - barista with the warm smile” or “Carlo - friendly dog walker.” This simple act will help you remember each person more vividly and encourage you to reach out, smile, and create small moments of joy whenever you see them. So, who will you connect with today?

I’d love to hear about your experience! Reply to the email or send me a message on social—tell me who you met, what you talked about, and how it made you feel. I can’t wait to hear your stories.

Day 7
Day 7: Success

Today, I want to show you how the transformation from our la dolce vita baking challenge goes beyond the kitchen. It's about slowing down, connecting with loved ones, and enjoying every moment.

In this video, I’ll share a beautiful story from one of my students and answer some of the top questions I’ve been getting. Bonus: Keep an eye out for my next video where I’ll reveal something special to help you take your transformation to the next level. You won’t want to miss it—it’s a limited-time offer! I’d love to hear—how do you see la dolce vita transforming your life? Comment below the video or send me an email. Let’s keep the conversation going!

Day 8
Day 8: Bake

Recipe: Amaretti Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups almond flour

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large egg whites

  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).

  2. In a bowl, combine almond flour, sugar, and almond extract. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.

  3. Gently fold the egg whites into the almond mixture until a dough forms.

  4. Roll the dough into small balls, dust with powdered sugar, and place on a baking sheet.

  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden. Let cool before enjoying!

These little cookies are perfect with a cup of coffee or tea, and they make a wonderful treat to share with family or friends. If you give them a try, snap a photo and share it via social or email.
