Rolling hills dressed in vineyards. Candlelit pasta. Whispered wine tastings in underground cellars. If you’ve been dreaming of an Italian escape that’s equal parts romantic getaway and wine-soaked fantasy, welcome to the Langhe- Piedmont’s best-kept secret.
This isn’t Tuscany 2.0. This is slower, sexier, and more intimate. It’s where Italy leans in, swirls its glass of Barolo, and raises an eyebrow as if to say, "You made it."
I put together this 3 Day Langhe wine and truffle itinerary for fellow romantics, foodies, honeymooners, anniversary-celebrators, or anyone simply craving a break from reality that smells like truffles and tastes like heaven.

Where to Stay in Langhe: Relais San Maurizio – Luxury Spa Hotel
Let’s start with where you’ll be living your best life: Relais San Maurizio, a 17th-century monastery-turned noble villa-turned five-star luxury dreamland. A member of one of the Leading Hotels of the World, it’s perched up in the hills near Santo Stefano Belbo.
Picture sweeping vineyard views, crisp white linens, and just the right amount of hushed elegance.

Why I love it:
The spa has vinotherapy treatments, a bio-sauna, and a salt therapy course (with salt brought over all the way from the Dead Sea.)
The fine dining is Michelin-level and the service is incredible
You can spend entire mornings wrapped in a robe pretending you live here.
The garden! You can roam the same grounds that monks used to stroll.
The hotel is dog-friendly. Our toy-poodle, Pippa, was given royal puppy treatment. Think staff members bowing and bringing her water in a fancy dish at every meal, and the hotel surprising us with her own doggie welcome kit. She even got a letter addressed to her!
This is easily one of the best luxury hotels in Langhe for couples. Book a suite. Unpack something silky. This is the mood.

Day 1 in Langhe: Explore Alba and Dine in Barbaresco
Things to Do in Alba, Piedmont
Your Langhe story starts in Alba, charming, truffle-scented, and dripping with old-world Italian flair.
This town is famous for:
The white truffle fair in Alba, if you’re a lucky seasonal visitor
Boutique-lined streets like Via Vittorio Emanuele, perfect for espresso shopping strolls
Medieval towers and piazzas that feel like walking through a wine label

We visited in December, and I especially appreciated all the stylish poodles, walking around in their puffer jackets, with their equally-chic owners. The center piazza, with the big christams tree, brought us so much joy!
Go back to the relais to relax, and then enjoy your evening there, or head out to Barbaresco for din-din!

Dinner in Barbaresco: Campamac Osteria
Evening calls for something special. Head to the best restaurant in Barbaresco, Campamac Osteria. This isn’t just dinner, it’s a slow-food love affair.
Expect:
A soft boiled egg on polenta, topped with shaved truffle (*has foodgasm*)
Local beef so tender it melts
A wine list that whispers "Nebbiolo" seductively in your ear
It’s the kind of place where time slows down and wine keeps appearing. It’s a must-stop on
any Barbaresco wine and food itinerary.

Day 2 in Langhe: Barolo Wine Tour & Neive Village Dinner
Barolo Wine Tasting at Marchesi di Barolo
Barolo is more than just a famous wine. It’s a fairy tale hilltop village, and yes, the vibes are immaculate.
Make your way to Marchesi di Barolo, the grand dame of Langhe wine houses. Book a tasting tour that includes a proper stroll through their historic cellars and a seated wine-paired lunch.
Must-taste:
A vertical tasting of Barolo (compare vintages and impress your friends)
Their food pairings, which feel like edible poetry
This is a must on any Barolo wine tasting itinerary.

What to Do in Barolo Village
After lunch, explore Barolo village:
Snap a pic at the WiMu Wine Museum
Buy a bottle or three at a local enoteca
Sit, sip, and soak it in
Barolo is a top destination for wine lovers visiting Langhe.
After your stroll of Barolo, I recommend heading back to the relais for a salt therapy session and nap.

Best Restaurant in Neive: Cantina del Rondò
Tonight’s dinner takes you to Neive, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.
Cantina del Rondò is cozy, relaxed, and slightly off the radar, which makes it even more special. I ordered a pasta that was unlike any pasta I've ever had, it was a cacao ravioli, filled with meat, and topped with a buttery sauce.
This place is a favorite in every Neive food and wine guide.

Day 3 in Langhe: Sparkling Wine & Spa Day
Contratto Winery: Langhe Sparkling Wine Tour
Ok, we've been saving the best for last. This is by far, the coolest and largest cellar I've ever toured. Plus, the wine was DELICIOUSSSSSS. Head to Contratto Winery in Canelli, famous for Metodo Classico sparkling wines and historic cellars carved into limestone (UNESCO-protected).
Their underground cellars are gothic, dramatic, and deliciously photogenic. Book the full tour and tasting. Wear something fabulous. This is a gem in the world of Langhe sparkling wine tours.
Try the For England Blanc de Noirs Alta Langa Docg Pas Dosé , you can thank me later.

Spa in Langhe: Return to Relais San Maurizio
Head back to your Relais. You’ve earned it.
Get a vinotherapy massage or facial
Sip a glass of Arneis by the pool
Stroll in the gorgeous gardens

For dinner, you can enjoy a high-end Michelin-starred meal at Guido da Costigliole, or a still elegant, but more relaxed, meal at Origini Bistrot Langhe. You might cry a little from how perfect it all is. That’s normal here.

Best Time to Visit Langhe, Piedmont for Wine & Truffles
Fall (September to November): Truffle season in Alba, grape harvest, golden light
Late Spring (May to June): Green vineyards, roses in bloom, fewer crowds
Winter: Cozy, quiet, great for spa deals and wine tastings

Final Thoughts: Why Langhe Is the Ultimate Wine Getaway in Italy
Langhe doesn’t shout for your attention. It doesn’t crowd you with tourists or rush you from monument to monument. Instead, it invites you in with a glass of something red, a drizzle of truffle oil, and a smile that says, you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
So if you’re dreaming of an Italian trip that’s equal parts luxury wine travel, romantic escape, and gourmet indulgence, Langhe is calling. Just make sure you answer with stretchy silk pants and a large appetite.
I hope you enjoy Langhe as much as I did! The food and wine here truly blew me away, and all three of us (me, Marco, and Pippa) indulged to the max. Buon viaggio!
Un bacio,
Amby
